Western Digital was launch the world first 2 TB hard drive. It’s not a high performance 7.200 rpm drive but spindle speed with dynamical optimize range 5.400 rpm – 7.200 rpm energy-efficient drive. Western Digital doesn’t talk about its actual spindle speeds and prefers to refer to IntelliPower, which is the marketing name for the balance between spindle speed, transfer rate, and caching algorithms, as part of its effort to design drives with the best balance between performance and power consumption. The high capacity of these drives also makes them ideal for devices that get turned on all day long like Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices or home theatre PCs requiring lower power consumption and cool, quiet operation.
